Bochesa Washing Station, Sidama, Ethiopia
Located at 2000–2100m in East Sidama’s Arbegona Wereda, Bochesa Washing Station was established in 2022 and processes 500–600 tons of cherry annually from 823 smallholder farmers. Main varieties include 7454, 74110, 7440, and 74112.
The station invests in sustainability — providing seedlings to the community, offering premium payments to farmers, and implementing efficient water management and wastewater treatment.
Coffee is washed-processed with strict quality control: ripe cherries are cleaned, pulped, fermented for 12–16 hours, washed again, and sun-dried on raised beds for 10–14 days. Fully dried parchment is stored separately for 20 days before cupping and shipment
