The growers of Bombe

Nestled in the highlands of Sidama, the Bombe area is one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. High altitudes above 2,000 metres, fertile soils and a cool climate create ideal conditions for growing exceptional coffee.

Coffee trees are cultivated under semi-forest shade and alongside fruit trees, allowing cherries to ripen slowly and develop vibrant sweetness. Cherries are carefully handpicked and processed at local washing stations, fermented and then sun-dried on raised beds.

This coffee comes from smallholder farmers led by Basha Bekele, a second-generation producer who inherited his farm from his grandfather. Since 2018, he has focused on quality-driven production, working closely with local farmers and applying improved processing practices for consistency, sustainability and an expressive cup.
